Dave Cormier's session on the Future of Education Conference tonight was called Snowclones, cliches and memes. I wish there had been more time for this session, so that he could have started a bit further back, and built up to his picture more gradually. It looked really exciting, but I honestly felt just the way I do when my husband's family lapses into Swedish and gets animated. I don't have enough of the language to be able to keep up with the conversation, to appreciate the jokes.
Perhaps if his demo site hadn't observed Murphy's Law and broken just at the wrong time, I might have had an "aha moment", but I'm feeling lost and annoyed with myself for lacking the capacity to grasp what was going on.

yup. The demo site was really designed to do that. I was going to cover the concept again, and, hopefully through a live perusal of the photos coming in, review different aspects of the idea. It was a difficult concept to try and spring on people in 30 minutes... truth be told, I was really more interested in presenting the 'model' rather than snowclones themselves. We'll be doing another run this weekend.
Hopefully I'll be able to join that, but Martin Mackain-Bremner was talking about getting a bunch of us in the UK together to start the whole conversation further back. I didn't feel as if I had the foundation taxonomy in place to be able to access what you were covering. I fully understand the time constraints were a problem.
It was too fast for me too. I'd really like to join in with the UK conversation?
As soon as I hear from Martin about it, I'll give you a yell.
